I’ve been enjoying the film experience with my Mamiya, so I thought I’d do some 35mm, too, with this Craigslist find. #pentax #asahi #kx #film #35mm #whatsthisbuttondo

Reflections on the Eau Claire River, a set on Flickr.
Where the Eau Claire River enters Lake Eau Claire, a series of small islands and tributaries make for a scenic area to explore via kayak or canoe. The water is slow and calm and surrounded by trees, grasses and wildlife. While kayaking the area this summer, I took advantage of the smooth waters and spent some time photographing the flora and its reflections. Looking at the photos afterward, I was struck by the symmetries and how the subjects appeared almost insect-like when I turned my head a bit. I carried the idea forward and came up with a series of rotated pictures that take on an almost abstract nature.
